After Leaving the Scumbag, I Became the Heir of 10 Billion
Chapter 2
Why did it have to be Sarah? I treated her as my best friend, and she knew how much I loved Zack.
In that moment, rationality was thrown out the window. I pushed open the door, interrupting their sweet moment.
When Sarah saw me, she was frightened like a little deer. She quickly stood up and hid behind Zack, her eyes full of helplessness and caution.
"Lydia... What are you doing here? Zack was afraid you wouldn't like the room decorations, so he asked me to come and help."
I never knew Sarah was so good at lying.
She was wearing my bathrobe and had obviously just used the shower gel I had carefully chosen.
Even though she was acting caring and fragile, the image of her passionately clinging to Zack's laps moments ago made me sick.
"Why are you here?" Zack looked calm and composed. He scratched his ear and didn't even look at me.
I still didn't say anything, trying my best to control the urge to hit someone, and kept my gaze fixed on this pair of cheaters in front of me.
"Lydia, are you here to deliver the suit? Please don't misunderstand... I accidentally dirtied my clothes earlier, so I took a shower. You're not angry because I wore your bathrobe, right...?"
"Of course I'm not angry. Haven't I often given you clothes before? Besides, you can't afford these anyway." I said gritting my teeth.
Sarah came from a poor family, but I was different.
Although my family's business had declined in recent years, we still had a foundation. Sometimes when I bought new clothes, I would let Sarah pick out a few pieces she liked.
I never looked down on her because of her background. Even when she sold the clothes I gave her, I simply thought she was tight on money.
She let out a sigh of relief, but I coldly chuckled and said, "So you want me to believe that it was an accident when you were kissing my fianceé on his laps in our engagement room while wearing my bathrobe? You want me to believe that nothing happened between you two, that he didn't cheat, you're not the mistress, and I have no reason to be angry, is that right?"
Then I pointed at her neck with contempt. There was a fresh and obvious hickey there. It was evident how passionately Zack had kissed her moments ago.
"Then what happened to your neck? Was it a mosquito bite? Zack, it turns out you are a mosquito."
I had received a good education since childhood, and my speech was always gentle. However, I suddenly became sarcastic and confrontational, which surprised Sarah. She burst into tears and lowered her head to sob softly.
"I'm sorry, Lydia, it's all my fault. Don't blame Mr. Lawson. Please don't let me affect your relationship..."
When she realized that Zack was her client, she immediately started addressing him as Mr. Lawson.
But she seemed to have forgotten that I was the one who helped her secure that endorsement job. Otherwise, she would still be just a small internet celebrity selling smiles in livestreams.
Zack, who had been sitting on the couch all this time, stood up as soon as he saw Sarah crying.
Instead of explaining anything to me, he looked at Sarah with a pained expression and said, "Lydia, Sarah is your friend. You know she's timid, so why be so harsh? You'll frighten her."

Zack had a pair of captivating eyes, which were full of affection.
However, once that affection was directed towards someone else, his gaze became like a sharp blade piercing into my chest.
When I was young, I was fascinated by his youthfulness and clear eyes.
It was for this reason that when Nathan chose me to be the daughter-in-law of the Lawson family five years ago, I agreed without hesitation.
But at some point, I became unable to understand the meaning behind his eyes.
"Friend? Does she consider me a friend? We've been together for five years and are about to get engaged. Why is she pretending to be pitiful when she's hooking up with you?"
Zack seemed a little impatient. "Lydia, I thought you were very sensible. It was my father who thought you were suitable to be my wife, not me. Your family's business relies on us. Do I need to remind you of that? Isn't this what you wanted? You have a title, aren't you satisfied? You don't need to worry about what I do outside. Just focus on being the future Mrs. Lawson."
So this was how he truly saw me.
At this moment, my feelings for him seemed to be burned by the scorching sun and suddenly evaporated.
When emotions are gone, one becomes calm.
I said calmly, "I don't need the empty title of Mrs. Lawson. I used to think that our feelings could be cultivated, but now I understand that I was wrong."
"Do you want to break up? Not get engaged anymore? Have you thought it through?" Zack interrupted, his words filled with disbelief.
I glanced at Sarah behind him, and there was no trace of guilt or embarrassment in her eyes. Instead, they were filled with anticipation and satisfaction.
Maybe my silence irritated Zack. He thought I would coax him as usual and refuse to leave him.
He took off his engagement ring and threw it at my feet like trash. "Lydia, I'm informing you now, we're breaking up."
"That's exactly what I want." I threw the suit at his face and left the room.

The next day, I went to our new house to pack my luggage.
Although it was called our new house, I practically lived there alone. At the beginning of the year, when we started preparing for the engagement, Nathan had handed me the keys to the house.
Speaking of Nathan, he had always been very caring towards me.
When he found out that Zack and I had argued, he immediately called me, urging me to give Zack another chance, mentioning that I was his chosen daughter-in-law.
I didn't know if it was because of Nathan's pressure, but when I was leaving with my suitcase, Zack actually came back.
He put one hand on mine, forcefully holding down my suitcase to prevent me from leaving, and then he actually held me in his arms.
"Didn't you turn a blind eye to it before? Lydia, don't be angry. Sarah asked me to apologize to you, and I shouldn't have taken her to the private room you booked. I was wrong, okay?"
He seemed to be trying to coax me, wrapping his arms around me from behind. However, I couldn't detect any genuine remorse in his words.
I let out a cold smile and turned to face him. "Okay. I won't be angry."
I held the back of his head with one hand and was about to kiss him, but Zack subconsciously turned his face away.
I sneered with disdain. "Zack, look at you. You're not even willing to lie to me. What do you take me for? A tool to please your father? A tool for having children? Don't worry, even though you lack talent and capability, you're still your father's only son. Even if we break up, he won't do anything to you. So stop bothering me. Do you know that now whenever I think back to those nights I slept by your side, it makes me sick."
I held back my tears and said every word into his ear.
I felt Zack's whole body stiffen, so I took the opportunity to break free from his grasp.
"Lydia, you understand that our marriage was forced from the beginning. Give me some time. Stop causing a scene, okay?"
"I've just thought things through and I don't want to waste any more time. Zack, I'm not causing a scene. I want to break up with you."
He was a little bit shocked and his expression suddenly changed.
"Do you think I'm begging you not to break up? Lydia, if it weren't for my dad approving of you and threatening to withhold my shares if I didn't marry you, do you think I would willingly lower myself before you like this?"
He finally couldn't help but speak the truth. Nathan was really good to me, but sadly, a forced relationship was never sweet.
Zack stared at me, sighed deeply, and controlled his emotions again. "Okay, I won't see Sarah recently, I will accompany you on the engagement, okay?"
In the past, I would have been overjoyed by such a statement, but now I could only find him ridiculous.
Just then, his phone rang, and he answered it without hesitation. I could tell it was Sarah's voice. She said a few words, and Zack's face immediately filled with concern. "Sarah! Don't worry, I'll be there right away. Wait for me!"
He hung up the phone and ran to the door impatiently, forgetting the promise he had made to me in an instant.
As he reached the door, he seemed to suddenly remember that I was still there, hesitating as he turned back to look at me.
"You can go." My heart turned cold and I let him go.
Upon receiving my forgiveness, he swiftly made his way downstairs. "I will take you to see the dress in a few days."

As I watched him unhesitatingly leave me behind, even though I had already made the decision to leave, I couldn't control the sadness that washed over me.
Perhaps in the face of five years of love, it was impossible to be so nonchalant.
On the way home, I was a little dazed, so I rolled down the window to let the cold wind in.
In the rearview mirror, I saw a car driving very fast and swaying as if it was drifting. I felt something was wrong and quickly turned the steering wheel to avoid it.
But it still managed to hit me precisely. Just before the airbag deployed, the first person I thought of was still Zack.
The driver of the other car was drunk and was held fully responsible. And I was sent to the hospital.
It was already late at night when I woke up.
The nurse said to me, "We couldn't reach your family. Your parents aren't answering their phones, and your boyfriend isn't either. You should find someone to come to the hospital. You'll probably have to lie in bed for a few days."
The nurse's words were direct and hurtful, but they were the truth.
My mother had passed away long ago, and ever since my father remarried, he never contacted me except when he needed money.
As for my boyfriend... Zack was probably sleeping with Sarah right now.
I forced a smile and acted as if everything was fine. "It's okay, I can manage on my own. If necessary, I can hire a caregiver."
The nurse seemed to be used to this kind of thing and could tell at a glance that I was trying to be strong.
"It's not convenient for you to get out of bed now. If you need anything, you can press the nurse call button."
I gave her a grateful look.
The traffic police quickly confirmed the details and needed my signature. As I looked at the license plate number on the form, a sense of familiarity washed over me.
Thinking about it again, it was the same license plate number of Sarah's top Sugar Daddy from her livestreaming.
I had caught them meeting offline once, and this was his car.
"Can I take a picture?" I asked.
I couldn't be mistaken, my memory had always been good. How much did Sarah hate me? I had already given Zack to her, and yet she still wanted to kill me.
Fortunately, I got lucky.
I sent the license plate and the photos of the car passing by captured by the surveillance camera to Sarah. [If your Sugar Daddy finds out that you've landed a wealthy man, will he become desperate? I wonder if Zack would still be willing to be with you if he knew about your Sugar Daddy. I'm genuinely curious.]
