After I Stopped Expecting His Love, He Regretted it!
Chapter 1
I was three months pregnant and slipped in the bathroom. I struggled to pick up my phone and used my last bit of strength to call Cody Walker. I wanted to ask him to save me and our child.
The call was connected, and his impatient voice came from the other end, "What's the matter again?"
I was shaking with pain and screaming for help, but I heard the cries of pain from the other end of the line. Cody hung up the phone in a hurry and said, "Emma Green needs me, you should solve your own problems yourself."
I was lying on the ground, bleeding all over the place.
When I woke up again, I was lying in the hospital and the doctor told me that the baby could not be saved.
My hand rested gently on my lower abdomen. An hour ago, there was a little life connected to my bones and blood here, but now it had gone.
-------
I have loved Cody Walker for five years, from having crush on him to giving up my dignity to pursue him, and after going through untold hardships, we finally entered the palace of marriage.
I was happy on our wedding day. I thought I had finally moved him and that he married me because he loved me.
But I heard his brother saying outside the door, "You are too impulsive. You can't give up on yourself and marry a woman you don't love just because Emma Green has a child. Is Monica Bath worthy of being Mrs. Walker?"
I stood at the door waiting for Cody to deny it, but after waiting for a long time, I heard his impatient voice.
"I am already married, why are you talking about this?"
I heard laughter coming from inside. They were laughing happily. On one hand, they felt sorry that Cody's crush, Emma Green got married and had a child, and on the other hand, they scolded me for being shameless and seducing Cody.
I thought at the time, maybe it was just because I didn’t work hard enough and I met Cody too late. As long as we were together in the future, he would understand me and fall in love with me.
But later I found out that some people's hearts are as hard as stone and they would never learn to love you back.
I took out my phone and looked at the chat box with Cody Walker:
[Why don’t you answer the phone?]
[Monica Bath? Speak? Didn't I ask you to deliver the documents to me today?]
I stared at the messages and couldn't help thinking, if he had listened to me last night and came to save me, would my child not have died like this?
But he didn't come. He was accompanying Emma Green.
I typed slowly: [Cody Walker, let’s get a divorce.]
After sending the message, I deleted him and prepared to bring my child back.
The nurses looked at me with pity along the way. I heard them whispering behind my back, discussing my aborted baby. This hospital was where I often went for prenatal checkups. Except for the time when I was diagnosed with pregnancy, Cody never accompanied me to the hospital again.
I was alone at every prenatal checkup.
He always said that he was very busy at work and the company had just gotten on track so he couldn't spare the time.
So I tried to be a sensible wife and always told him, "Okay, I can do it myself. You go ahead and do your work."
"Cody, you have always been a great help." A sweet female voice sounded, and I looked up and met the person's eyes.
Cody was holding a four-year-old child in his arms, and standing next to him was Emma Green.
They stood together, like a real family of three.
His eyes fell on me, and then a hint of impatience flashed across his face.
Emma also showed a surprised expression, and then she said hypocritically, "Monica? Are you here to see Cody?"
I lowered my eyes, "No."
After saying that, I wanted to leave without paying any attention to them, but Cody grabbed my hand and accused me, "Is it necessary to stare at me so closely? You're pregnant, and yet you come to the hospital for monitoring me."
He thought I was here to see him. Yes, I used to dislike him and her meeting each other, and I would always try to prevent them from being alone.
But now I no longer cared about it. I swept away his hand like a speck of dust, "Excuse me."
I didn't want to have anything to do with them anymore, but Emma didn't want to let me go.
She stepped forward and said, "Monica, Damian kept crying last night. I was afraid that he might be sick, so I asked Cody to take me to the hospital. Having an affair is not possible, don't be angry."
Cody frowned, "Why are you talking to her so much? Is there having something to do with her about my schedule?"
It was strange. I didn't want to get involved in their business. I didn't understand why they had to talk to each other in front of me. I said, "I wish you a happy time together. Can you please move aside now?"
Emma seemed to be startled when she heard this, and took a step back. Cody said unhappily, "Monica, do you have any manners? She is just explaining something to you, why are you so angry?"
Was I losing my temper?
At this moment, I felt unprecedentedly tired. I didn't want to argue with him, and I was not willing to explain to him. I still had the notice of abortion in my hand, and I just wanted to take my child home.
I ignored Cody who was blocking my way and took a step towards the attending physician's office. His expression finally changed and he stepped forward to stop me, "Monica, don't be angry. This is not good for the child..."
It turned out that he still remembered that he had a child. I looked at him coldly, "It's not you who made me angry?"
He didn't seem to expect that I would treat him in this way. He licked his upper lip guiltily. I was tired of his excuses, so I turned and left. But the next second, I felt a sharp pain!
"Ah!" The child in his arms reached out and grabbed my hair hard. I had just had a miscarriage and hadn't eaten anything. I was extremely weak. When pulled like that, I fell backwards and hit on Cody.
The next moment, the boy's earth-shattering cry rang out, "Mom!! It hurts! She bumped into me on purpose! My hand hurts!"
"Monica Bath! Damian is just a child!" Cody protected the child and retreated.
Emma rushed over and pushed me away fiercely. I fell to the ground in embarrassment, sweating coldly from the pain. I looked up and saw Cody holding the child and coaxing him in a low voice, while Emma nervously held the child's hand, "Does it hurt, Damian? I'm sorry, it's all mom's fault. I didn't expect that she would do that to you..."
Emma looked at me, "Monica, I know you don't like Cody and I being together, but Damina is innocent. How could you do this to a four-year-old child?"
I stared at the child in Cody's arms. He was hugged by him and made a face at me. Did a four-year-old child really understand nothing?
If he didn't know anything, how could he pinch his own hand and then complain to everyone that I pinched him? If he didn't know anything, how could he deliberately bump into my stomach several times after finding out I was pregnant? If he didn't deliberately scatter marbles in my house, how could I have slipped!
I couldn't help but find it funny. Only Cody treated him as a naive child who knew nothing.
I just found it ridiculous that I lost my baby forever because of them.
I slowly stood up by supporting myself against the wall. The furious Cody seemed to have finally remembered something. He was stunned, and then his tone softened as he tried to support me, "How are you? Does your stomach hurt? Do you want to get a checkup?"
"No, I want to go back." I said coldly.
"Remember to check the messages on your phone." I had made up my mind to divorce him and had asked a lawyer to prepare a divorce agreement.
Cody was relieved when he heard me mention the message on the phone. He probably thought I was going to make another request to him.
He patted the child and said, "Okay, I'll watch it later."
I glanced at him, said nothing, and left in a hurry.
This time, he couldn't stop me from leaving.
When I turned the corner, I heard his voice. He seemed to be calling his secretary again, "Which longevity lock did Monica choose for the child? Yes, wrap it up for me."
