Chapter 4

I watched Ruth finish her meal in silence.

"I'm done eating. You should leave, I have to practice now."

Ruth was urging me to leave, and I really didn't want to stay a second longer.

I was thinking the trip was fruitless when something happened.

"Hey Ruth, where is Alex? Why isn't he having lunch with you today? I was just about to rehearse a dance with him."

It was a young girl I didn't see earlier.

Ruth's hand shook, the cutlery fell on the table, and her face looked all weird.

"How would I know? He's probably eating in the cafeteria. You can look for him there."

I stared at her flustered look, asking casually, "Who is Alex? Why haven't you ever mentioned him? Do you often eat with him?"

Ruth looked even more panicked, with a hint of impatience.

"He's just a student. He's very talented. What's wrong with me being his mentor? Why are you so much today? It's annoying. Okay, leave now, stop wasting my time."

Her reactions proved that there was definitely something wrong between her and Alex.

But it was not a good time right now, I had to wait.

When I was leaving, I met the girl who had complimented on my food earlier.

I added her on WhatsApp, saying I was preparing a surprise for Ruth, and told her to keep it a secret and not tell anyone else. She happily agreed.

What a gullible little girl.

From today onwards, I would bring Ruth her lunch every day, rain or shine.

Others thought we were just showing off our love and expressed their admiration.

But that was not the case.

Since I started visiting every day, the time she had to spend with Alex must have become shorter. She must be anxious.

And I met the guy, he was a very tall and handsome young man.

He hadn't even graduated from college.

But he was young and handsome, no wonder Ruth was crazy about him, even willingly giving up her career and getting pregnant with his child.

How touching.

I also found out a lot from the girl I met earlier.

Her name was Heather.

She was a cheery and naive girl, never suspecting a thing.

From her, I learned that Alex came here more than half a year ago.

Because of his great talent, Ruth liked him from the very beginning and often took him with her when rehearsing and assigned him roles.

Gradually, they became closer and often had lunch together.

However, Ruth always told others that she admired Alex's talent and wanted to train him as her student.

But there had always been gossip about the two of them.

Just as I thought, something was off with her and this Alex.

Such a headline it would make, famous dancer grooming a college student.
