Chapter 3

"Get out!"

Then, the door in front of me slammed shut with a loud bang, shaking the walls.

I silently wiped away the tears on my face and sat on the edge of the bed, holding my stomach as I took a while to recover.

I have a stomach condition and I drank a lot last night.

This morning, I was awakened by the pain.

I went to the hospital and after the examination, the doctor told me I had some gastric bleeding, but it wasn't serious and I didn't need to be hospitalized. I just needed to be more careful with my daily routine from now on.

It was raining outside. The doctor glanced out the window and reminded me, “You’re dressed too lightly. Have someone from home come to pick you up.”

I nodded and after going downstairs, I called Noah.

“Noah, can you come to the hospital and take me home?”

Upon hearing this, Noah let out a cold laugh, his tone dripping with mockery. “What are you doing at the hospital, Gyna? Are you trying to feign sympathy for me?”

“Because of your so-called good deed, Megan has a high fever that won’t go down. I’m busy right now, so if you have any dignity, you’ll come back by yourself. If you can’t make it back, just go to the morgue instead.”

After saying that, Noah hung up the phone.

I stared at my phone for a long time, unable to come to my senses.

Megan had been in the bathroom all night and the cold air had made her run a high fever. But why did he say it was my good deed?

I couldn't understand and I felt a bit aggrieved.

I held back my tears and called Yale.

The phone rang for quite a while before it connected, but it was a woman’s voice on the other end.

“Yale hasn’t reached out to you, so could you please stop bothering him?”

As I scrolled through my contacts, I came across the entry labeled "Dad."

I couldn't quite remember whose contact that was. Was it Mr. Jill?

Mr. Jill and Mrs. Jill were away on a trip and they probably wouldn’t be back for at least ten days to half a month.

I dialed Mr. Jill's number. He could notify the family driver to come and pick me up.

“Mr. Jill, it’s pouring rain outside. Could you ask the driver to come to the hospital and take me home?”

There was a long silence on the other end before he finally responded with a hesitant “Mm. Which hospital are you at?”

I noticed that the voice sounded a bit different.

The place where Mr. Jill was traveling seemed really nice; even his voice sounded younger.

I told him the name of the hospital and he hung up the phone.

As I scrolled further down my contacts, I found another entry labeled "Mr. Jill."

Did he have two numbers?

I was stunned for a moment before suddenly recalling who the contact labeled "Dad" belonged to.

A black car stopped in front of me.

I looked up to see a Porsche at the hospital entrance.

The window rolled down, revealing a face that had a bit of a rogue charm.

"Come on, Mr. Jill is here to take you home."

After getting into the car, I angrily changed the contact name in my phone to Miles Newton.
