Chapter 3

Noey is a very agile child, running around in the house.

I was so anxious that I was sweating profusely. I finally caught up with him, but the diary was only a pile of ashes left.

I carefully picked up the remaining corner and couldn't help sobbing.

That was left by my mother-in-law . She was a gentle woman who wrote a lot about her yearning for the life of an independent woman. She once said that if she could live her life again, she would choose not to get married and live her own life.

The diary filled with her delicate dreams was burned.

I clenched the paper which was less than half the size of my palm and looked at Jade with bloodshot eyes .

" Jade ! Is this how you raise your child? Destroying other people's things without their permission? Have you ever taught him what manners are?"

Jade , who had a smug look on her face just now , now had red eyes.

"Noey has been without a father since he was a child. I raised him alone. You can criticize me, but Noey is still young. Isn't it too much for you to say that? Isn't it enough for me to apologize to you?"

I frowned and looked at her, and suddenly felt a gaze. She turned her head and saw James with a gloomy face .

She was stunned for a moment, and James had already approached.

" He 's just a kid. Why do you have to argue with him again and again? Are you satisfied only when you drive them out?"

I looked at the impatience on his face and my heart ached.

I showed the last piece of paper in my hand and tried to suppress my sobs: " James , you know he did..."

Before he finished speaking, James raised his hand and knocked the piece of paper away, his eyes filled with annoyance.

"It's just a burnt notebook. What boy his age wouldn't be naughty? Why do you have to make such a fuss about it? If you want it, I can buy you a hundred or a thousand. Is that enough?"

I watched the paper fall to the ground and was stepped on by Jade .

I suddenly gave up and laughed weakly.

"That's enough. I'm sorry. It was my fault."

James , who was originally furious , was hurt by my hurt expression.

Self-blame filled his heart for a moment, and he was about to say a few words to comfort him, but was interrupted by Noey.

"Uncle James, can I play this?"

Noey was holding a gift box, but James treated it as empty and told him to play with it if he wanted.

I knew what was in there, and quickly said, "That's not allowed."

James , who had just felt a little guilty, frowned again when he heard what I said.

“You not be so stingy ? Is it because you dislike everything he does?"

I was shocked by what he said. I looked into his eyes in disbelief and found that he seemed to have really forgotten what was in the box.

James was annoyed with me at the moment and thought I was unreasonable, so he naturally obeyed Noey's every command.

"Sure, you can throw it away if you want."

Noey walked to the fireplace and was about to throw something in when he paused and turned back to ask Jade :

"Mom, this scarf is pretty. Do you really want to throw it away?"

Jade's face changed and she didn't dare to look at James . She could only blink desperately to signal her son to throw it away.

James was also shocked when he heard that there was a scarf inside . He looked over quickly, but the scarf had been thrown into the fireplace and was engulfed in fire.

I rushed to the fireplace and reached out to retrieve the scarf .

The fireplace had just been lit, and the scarf was made of wool, so it caught fire easily. The flames shot up and burned me, causing me to hiss in pain.

James ' heart twitched and he stepped forward to pull me back, but Jade took the first step and walked in front of me .

me with tears in her eyes .

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It's all my fault for not disciplining the child. I apologize to you on his behalf. Please tell me how much the scarf costs, and I'll buy it for you when I save up enough."

I looked at Jade with a hypocritical face indifferently without saying a word.

Jade saw from the corner of her eye that James ' eyes were still on me , with a hint of cruelty in them. The next second, he knelt on the ground with a thud.

"It's all my fault, just forgive me . If you're really angry, just hit me!"

After she finished speaking, she forcefully grabbed my hand and hit herself in the face, and I couldn't break free.

A crisp slap sounded, and Jade 's face immediately turned red.

She was still not satisfied with this, so she let go of my hand and fanned herself on the face, saying sorry.

I frowned at the scene and was about to tell her to stop acting when James pushed me away .

I was pushed away with great force , and I lost my balance and bumped into the corner of the table , causing my head to bleed .

James didn't expect that he was so strong. He was shocked and was pulled by Jade after taking just two steps .

He turned around and saw Jade's swollen face. In the end, his expression turned cold and he just pulled Jade up and held her in his arms.

me coldly , " Sophia ! Jade has already apologized to you, why are you still nagging me? It's just a thrown scarf , and you have to pick it up and embarrass Huanyan?"

I lay on the ground in a mess, my burned hand hitting the floor, and the pain made me speechless for a moment.

James ' heart moved slightly, and just as he was about to help, Noey grabbed his hand.

" Uncle James , it's all my fault. Noey is wrong."

Holding Noey's little hand, James ' heart softened and his heart towards me hardened again.

"Since you like to embarrass others so much, just get up on your own. I'll see how long you can hold on."
