Chapter 2

Upon hearing Lin Muye's words, my mother nodded with relief.

"Seeing Mu Ye's love for you so much, Mom feels at ease. Look at you, you used to be reluctant to get married, but now when you get married, you won't go home for two years. Isn't married life too happy and sweet to be willing to go back to your parents' house?"

My mother teased me with a smile.

I nodded cautiously and said, "Hmm."

I dare not say one more word besides obediently agreeing.

"It's good if you realize the benefits of marriage. Mom is old and can't be with you forever. The reason why I urged you to get married was because I hoped someone could accompany and take care of you when you were sick and tired. Now that you have married the right person, the stone in Mom's heart can finally land."

My mother speaks with great care and emotion.

After listening, I couldn't help feeling sour in my heart.

I feel like crying.

But I dare not cry.

I could only endure the pain and lower my head, saying, "Thank you, thank you Mom."

My mother looked at me deeply and said with relief, "It's different when we think about getting married. We're much more obedient and sensible than before."

Other relatives also looked at me one after another, nodding and praising, "Yes, I still remember thinking lively like a monkey before, but it was so noisy."

"That's right, look at Nian Nian now, gentle and quiet, looking like a virtuous wife."

"This is the benefit of getting married to the right person. It must be because Makino is too kind to Nian Nian, that Nian Nian has changed so much!"

My uncle couldn't help but take credit and said, "Their marriage was arranged by me. When I first saw Makino, I thought he was very outstanding. Now it seems that I really saw the right person."

Everyone praises Lin Muye with every word you say.

Lin Muye smiled and accepted them one by one.

And I remained silent, just burying my head lower.

After chatting, my mother pulled me to the seat.

When I was sitting down, my clothes accidentally rubbed off the wine glass on the table.

With a loud bang, the glass shattered instantly.

The crisp and piercing sound completely shattered the string that had been tense in my heart.

I am like a frightened bird, quickly kneeling on the ground, subconsciously seeking mercy in fear:

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!"

I suddenly knelt down and begged for mercy, which made my mother and all my relatives dumbfounded.

"Nian Nian..."

My mother frowned slightly, calling out my name in disbelief, and then helped me up.

"Nian Nian, being sensible is good, but you may be a bit too polite. You just broke a cup, and no one will blame you. Why do you kneel down?"

I lowered my head and stood up trembling, afraid to speak for a while.

Because when I was at home with Lin Muye before, whether it was washing dishes or cleaning, whenever I made any noise, he would beat me up.

Once when he was sleeping, I just gently flipped over and he thought I had disturbed him.

Without saying a word, he dragged me out of bed and pressed me to the ground, hitting me so hard that my nose bone was broken and my nose was bleeding all over the ground before he stopped.

So later on, a slightly louder voice could trigger a stress response and make me very anxious.

Realizing that I had just lost my composure, I became even more fearful and couldn't help but secretly glance at Lin Muye beside me.

At this moment, his expression was noticeably gloomy, but due to the large number of people, he could only pretend to be calm and say, "Nian Nian hasn't seen you for too long, it's a bit awkward."
