Chapter 1

I died on the day when my girlfriend cheated on me with her childhood sweetheart.

When I risked my life to rescue my girlfriend from the fire, she said to me, "I will never forgive you."

I witnessed her betrayal and went crazy with jealousy.

She was like the rose I nurtured with my own hands. How could I let others trample on it?

Stop saying that the living were no better than the dead.

The dead would only be replaced, not remembered.

I knew that loving someone was like a gamble. There was no public order and morals, only the willingness to gamble.

But Aria, your memories were all about him. How could I win?

——

"Do you hear me, Joseph? If you don't save Simon today, I will never forgive you!"

There was no time to think more.

I turned around and rushed into the fire once again despite the dissuasion of my teammates around me.

My mind was filled with my girlfriend's questions and accusations.

I found my way to the room where they were having an affair based on my memory. Damn it. The way before was blocked by the collapsed partition.

I couldn't forget the disheveled look of my girlfriend when I found her.

She was leaning against the corner, nearly unconscious, while her lover was conscious, having been hit in the forehead by a heavy object.

Actually, we could have saved both of them together, but it would have been slower.

The second floor of this love hotel illegally stored a lot of calcium peroxide, resulting in a fierce fire and frequent explosions at the scene, which became progressively more difficult to control.

We didn't have enough time.

When her lover looked at me with desperate and pleading eyes, I still chose to pick up my girlfriend and walked out without looking back.

Entering the fire again, my heart was in chaos, as if I had lost my way.

What would happen if I couldn't find her lover and returned with no success?

What would happen if I died in the fire with her lover?

Countless thoughts collided in my mind, but I still heard a faint cry for help.

It was the voice of that man.

I supported Simon Jones and walked for an unknown amount of time in the smoke-filled passageway.

Finally, I saw the daylight.

I felt Simon break free from my arm, tearing off the mask on his face and running towards Aria in the distance.

My body began to tilt backwards and fell heavily, out of control.

But I didn't feel any pain.

I only felt that my body was clear and very relaxed.

There was a saying, "Transforming into a fairy and ascending to heaven."

I felt light and as if I had flown into the sky.

I saw Aria and Simon tightly embracing each other. I saw the rescue team rushing around. I even saw myself being surrounded by everyone but with closed eyes and a stiff body.

"Captain! Wake up!!!" Troy, the youngest in the team, cried out, startling me.

I saw Aria get up and walk towards me, staggering and kneeling down beside me.

My face was blackened and covered in soot, with sweat and smoke intertwining into irregular patterns.

She held my face, but I couldn't feel her warmth anymore.

"Save him! Save him!!!" Her voice was hoarse from shouting.

The medical staff brought instruments, and with each electric shock, my soul trembled again.

But my soul had already left its sheath. How could I return to my body?

It was too late.

Aria, if you really cared about my safety, why did you let me rush into the fire again to save your lover at the moment of life and death?

In fact, you have long stopped loving me, right?

It was me who had to stay by your side.

Maybe it was because God pitied me. He didn't want to see me in this pathetic state anymore, and wanted me to be relieved sooner, so he took me away.

The medical staff covered me with a white sheet, but Aria immediately uncovered it.

"No, Joseph is not dead! He's just angry, punishing me and playing a joke on me!' Aria kept shaking my body, "Joseph, wake up. You can't just die like this!! You can't die because of me!!"

"Madam, please accept my condolences."

I was like a sleeping statue, no longer affected by Aria's coquetry and attempts to make amends.

Aria's hands hung weakly down, and she didn't even cover me with the bedsheet before she got up and walked away, as if she was escaping.

She opened the driver's door, but Simon quickly sat in first.

"You can't drive in your current state."

I floated in the air. The asshole was still pretending to be affectionate.

I wished you a smooth journey but disappeared halfway.
