Chapter 1

On the third day after the Alpha lost his memory, I asked him to sever our mate bond. He agreed instantly, as if it were the easiest decision in the world. Although he seemed to have forgotten me, he somehow remembered Zayla, his freshly divorced first love. My request to dissolve our bond conveniently set them free to be together.

A month later, he found me with his medical records in hand. His towering frame loomed over me, his broad shoulders casting a shadow. "We were expecting a pup," he said, his deep voice tinged with red, his Alpha aura heavy in the air.

I nodded, my voice steady despite the storm inside me. "Yes, we were."

"What happened to the pup?" he asked, his voice trembling, the raw power in his tone faltering for the first time.

I couldn’t help but chuckle darkly. "I let it go, just like I let you go. Why would I keep a pup when I didn’t even want you? I ended the pregnancy the same afternoon we went to the pack’s registry office to finalize the separation."

---

The Alpha had been injured in a rogue attack on his way to celebrate Zayla’s divorce with her. He wasn’t physically hurt—just a head injury. When he woke up, it was as if he remembered everyone except me. Zayla, a Delta from the Crimson Fang Pack, was there, tears streaming down her face, and he was gently comforting her.

I sat at the side, skimming the oil off his chicken soup so it wouldn’t be too greasy for him. After two days of constant visitors—pack members paying their respects to their Alpha—things finally quieted down.

I watched him rub his forehead and said softly, "The healer mentioned you might feel dizzy and nauseous for a few days. Maybe you should lie down and rest a bit."

The Alpha opened his eyes and stared at me for a long time without speaking. His dark gaze was piercing, his chiseled jaw tense. Just when I thought he wouldn’t say anything, he asked, "Did I bond with you because I loved you? Why am I only forgetting you?"

I was caught off guard, not expecting such a question.

"No, we were just academy mates. After we graduated, your family was pressuring you to find a mate, and I happened to have feelings for you, so we bonded," I replied.

He looked puzzled this time, his broad shoulders shifting as he leaned forward. "You had feelings for me?"

I walked over and adjusted the collar of his slightly loose tunic. "Yes, I used to care for you deeply. You were strong, commanding, a natural leader—who wouldn’t admire you?"

Seeing the confusion in his eyes, I couldn’t help but smile a little. "Go lie down before you start feeling unwell."

Watching him walk back to his room, his powerful frame moving with the grace of an Alpha, I made up my mind. This man, no matter how much I once cared for him, I don’t want him anymore.
