AFTER BETRAYAL, I RETURNED WITH CUTE BABIES

Chloe's POV

I stood right there, unable to move or make sense of what was happening before me. Although I have been trying to conceive for a while now, I never expected that it was my best friend, the one who always consoled me and encouraged me, who would do this to me.

"Lyon, what did you just say?" I asked him like I had snoozed off the whole time and did not hear him when he brutally requested for a divorce.

"You heard me, Chloe. I have tried, hoping that I would be able to keep up with you for much longer, but you are barren and there is no way that you will ever be useful to me."

He sneered at me, the cruelty in his eyes was slicing through my heart like a sword, I was feeling so crushed. These were the same people that I trusted most in the world and yet they stood before me with such news.

"You can't do that to me, Lyon, I know that it is taking time for us, but we are going to pull through, this is just a phase in our marriage."

"A phase?" He scoffed in disgust. "Did you just listen to yourself speak, this is not a phase Chloe, you are meant to be lonely and wretched for the rest of your life, how many times do I need to say it for you to understand."

He yelled at me, his eyes brimming with anger and impatient like I was a plague he badly wanted to get rid of. It was so hard for me to believe that this was the same man who had once looked at me with nothing but love in his eyes.

"Come on Chloe, how could you be so delusional to think that Lyon would go back to you especially after you couldn't give him what I gave him."

This time, Sherry's voice came through, there was not even a hint of remorse in those eyes, rather they were brimming with mockery as she bit her lips while staring at me disdainfully.

"What you gave him, what are you talking about?" I swallowed my spit, this time, I was clutching onto my chest, my heart had become heavy with the mixture of fear and pain that was slowly overwhelming me.

"Are you that dumb Chloe, that you can't see for yourself what is right before you."

Her hands trailed slowly to her stomach and she began to caress it, realization slowly began to overwhelm me that I was forced to drift backward, my eyes widened open in misery that was unfolding before me.

"You are saying..."

"Yes, you guessed right Chloe, Sherry is pregnant for me, she is carrying my child and there is no way that I would leave someone like her who has everything that I have ever wanted and wished for to be with someone like you."

"You are saying that Sherry is carrying your child, so this has been going on for a while, even all this while that you try to comfort me and assured me that I was going to get pregnant, you have been sleeping with my husband all this while!"

I yelled at the top of my lungs with my teeth gritted in rage at this truth that was unfolding before me, I was a fool all this while for the two of them.

"That is enough Chloe, I think that I have heard enough of you, you should sign the divorce paper, I would have told you that I am sorry for doing this, but I know it doesn't make any sense, so how about we just skip that part and you get right into signing the divorce!"

As I stood there, watching them make a mockery of me, I could vividly recall how Lyon and I had started. At first, I was reluctant to marry him, but after seeing how much he treated me with so much care and compassion.

Lyon was ready to go to the end of the world to get me just what I wanted, he made so many promises to me, and I was certain of a life forever with him.

"So all this while Sherry, you have been jealous of my marriage and wanted to take my man away from me?"

I snarled at her, even though I was hurting, I knew that I had to confront her.

"Lyon was not meant to be yours in the first place, I met him first, he was supposed to be mine all this while and not to a baren wretched thing like you!"

She cursed, that felt like I had reached the point where I could no longer endure it.

"Don't you dare speak to me like that!" I threatened furiously, lifting my hand in an attempt to slam her, but Lyon stood before her and he shoved me to the wall.

"I won't let you lay your filthy hands on Sherry, I think that I have had enough of you, you should leave right now."

Lyon's words pierced intensely into my heart, yet I forced the tears back, I grabbed the document and with the pen, I scribbled in my signature before looking at them one last time and as I did, a stream of tears rolled down my cheek.

"Have a nice day!" I forced out the word even though I was choking on the pain as I hurried upstairs where I packed up all of my belongings and in a few minutes, I was done with all of that.

Although it was dark outside yet, it did not matter to me, as long as I could get away from there and all of the pains attached to it.

But I had forgotten one thing there while I was in a hurry to leave, that was my cell phone.

And did not realize that as soon as I left, a text came through, it was a text that was meant to change my life, something that I had been badly craving for a long time yet I wasn't there to receive it.
