After Being Forced to Marry an old man, I was Reborn
Chapter 2
If Sarah had been interested in Raymond from the beginning, she would never have given me a chance.
Sure enough, as soon as I said this, Sarah immediately pushed away the heartbroken Raymond.
Then, she said, "Catherine, don't be angry. I just can't understand why you'd get into an old man's car when you knew you were engaged."
There it was.
The same slander from my previous life, delivered with that familiar manipulative tone.
I perked up immediately and asked, "When? When did you see me do this?"
Sarah didn't expect me to question her.
At that moment, the Daniel family glared at me with anger, and my parents' faces were full of fury.
In my previous temperament, I would have just blushed and awkwardly shook my head, unable to do anything.
But now, having been reborn, I was determined to fight her head-on.
"At eight o'clock last night."
Sarah sobbed and said, "I came out of the shower and saw you getting into his car!
"Catherine, if you needed money, you could have just asked me or our parents. You didn't have to degrade yourself like that."
She was insinuating that I was involved with an old man for money.
In my previous life, she had indeed succeeded in ruining me this way.
After Raymond broke off our engagement, my reputation was in shambles.
Sarah apologized on behalf of our family, refused his proposal, and still managed to get him to buy her a car worth millions.
Now she was trying the same trick, but I was completely unfazed. "Then do you know what time I came back?" I asked.
Sarah hesitated for a moment. "Ten o'clock. I heard your footsteps upstairs."
"Do you have any photos or videos?"
Sarah couldn't produce any, her cheeks flushing slightly as she defended herself. "I didn't have time to take any.
"But Mom, Dad, Mr. Daniel, Mrs. Daniel and Raymond have known me since I was a child. They know my character and wouldn't disbelieve me."
This was why Sarah dared to fabricate lies.
She knew everyone present would unconditionally side with her.
So, why should I confront her directly now?
I sighed and took Sarah's hand, my eyes filled with emotion. "Sarah, I didn't know you had such deep feelings for Raymond!"
"To the point where you'd lie to marry him!"
Sarah was stunned.
Raymond was stunned too.
After a long while, Raymond finally reacted and asked urgently, "Catherine, what do you mean by that?"
"Sarah's room does have a window, but it's two miles from the road where you could park," I said.
Then, I took Raymond's hand and placed it on Sarah's.
"If my meeting with the old man was real and lasted two hours, how could Sarah, with her poor eyesight, not have taken a single photo?
"Given her vision, she would have needed her phone to confirm it was me.
"But she has no photos..."
I guided him gently.
Raymond blinked, then said instinctively, "That means this isn't true."
"Exactly." I put on a look of approval and continued, "So why would Sarah tell such an easily debunked lie?"
Raymond hesitated, shaking his head slowly.
Without hesitation, I flicked his forehead. "You fool! It's because she loves you!
"She loves you so much that she'd go to any lengths to sabotage our engagement!
"She loves you so much that she'd lie to insult her own sister...
"Raymond, I'm Sarah's sister. My happiness doesn't matter, as long as you and Sarah are happy together, I'll be content."
My words of repaying evil with kindness successfully shocked everyone present.
