Chapter 2

It was a week later when I saw Elsie again. This time, they came directly to my school.

I suppressed my expectations and followed the counselor to the office.

Before I even entered the office, I heard Jack angrily scolding. "The hospital said the matching is suitable! The transplant can be done! Why are you still insisting on discussing with that damn girl? Do you wanna see Eva die?"

I knew Eva was the apple of his eye.

When Elsie saw me, she quickly winked at Jack and then came forward to grab my hand with a smile.

"Harley, are you adapting well at school? Did you run out of the money I gave you last time? If so, let us know. We will transfer more to you! Buy whatever you want!"

"No need. My parents have never treated me badly. You don't need to transfer money to me anymore."

I paused for a moment and continued, "Also, my name is not Harley. My name is Mia Mann."

After hearing this, Jack looked at me disdainfully and said, "They pick up garbage for a living. How much money can they give you? I don't think you've ever seen 2,000 dollars in your whole life. Drop the act! You phony."

Elsie also looked contemptuous.

The trace of hope in my heart vanished. I shook off Elsie's hand and said, "Yes, they raised me by picking up garbage! But we never steal, rob, or break the law. OK?"

Seeing my firm attitude, Elsie started to morally kidnap me. "We didn't raise you, but we gave birth to you. You should be grateful! Repay us today!

"We don't want much. Just donate a kidney to Eva! And from now on, we will never come to you again!"

At this moment, I finally saw their true intentions.

"I've been missing for twelve years, and you never found me. Now that your precious daughter needs a kidney, you suddenly are able to find me, right?"

Hearing me say this, Elsie quickly changed the subject and said, "Eva is your biological sister! She has uremia, and your kidney is the most suitable. As her sister, can't you save her?"

The counselor aside couldn't bear it anymore and said, "Sir, Ma'am, Mia will be participating in a competition out of town later. Let's talk about it after she comes back!"

But I knew that they wouldn't let me go easily until they achieved their goal.

Sure enough, Jack angrily approached and grabbed me tightly, saying, "Whether you donate or not is not up to you! I'm going to take you to the hospital now!"

After saying that, Jack suddenly raised his hand and slapped me hard twice.

His strength was surprisingly strong. My vision turned black, and there was a deep cut in the corner of my mouth, continuously bleeding. There was also a buzzing sound in my ears.

Seeing that, the counselor quickly protected me and used her body to separate me from Jack.

Yet amidst the chaos, Jack deliberately tore off the counselor's clothes in front of her chest and even touched her breasts.

She blushed, wrapped her arms around her chest, and helplessly sat on the ground on her knees.

I ignored the continuous pain on my face. I quickly took off my school uniform and tightly wrapped it around the counselor.

Seeing that Jack's eyes were almost glued to the counselor, Elsie suddenly went crazy and rushed towards us, shouting non-stop.

"You slut! You seduced my husband! I'll kill you!"

I tried my best to stand in front of the counselor. I was scratched and slapped countless times before the loud noise finally attracted the teachers next door.

The teachers next door could actually hear the commotion here all along.

But perhaps they didn't want to get involved, or maybe they wanted to teach the newly appointed counselor a lesson, so they came so late.

After the teachers pulled Elsie and Jack away from me and the counselor, they advised us not to call the police.

"Having the police come to the school will raise suspicions among parents and students, and it will inevitably damage the school's reputation! Ms. Eland, just bear with it this time!"

Jasmine Eland was my counselor, and at this moment, she was clutching my hand with lingering fear.

Seeing that we remained silent, the teachers decided to invite Elsie and Jack to leave.

Seeing this, I immediately threw myself at Jack's feet and held onto his leg tightly. No matter how much he kicked and cursed at me, I wouldn't let go.

In the end, my head was bleeding and covered in bruises. When the teachers realized that they couldn't resolve the situation, they had no choice but to call the police.

It was already evening when we finished giving our statements. It wasn't until the police handed us the receipt and told me that Jack couldn't leave today that I was finally relieved.

On the way home, Jasmine comforted me with a trembling voice, "Given what they did to you today, I'm sure they'll try everything to retaliate against you after Jack is released. You must protect yourself. If you see them again, tell me immediately. I will do my best to help you."

I hugged her without saying anything. She finally burst into tears.

Actually, I was not afraid of their so-called retaliation at all, because I had already died once when I discovered Jack's secret twelve years ago.
