Chapter 1

When the flood hit, my husband left me behind and fled with an old photo of his sweetheart. The second before I was choked by the water, I remembered that he had a tattoo of the letters "ZC" on his neck.

He said he would be loyal to me for life. Coincidentally, his Sweetheart's name was "Zendaya Corliss".

I closed my eyes and smiled as I tore up his medical report.

——

"Zevanya, you're awake!” I opened my eyes and my mother looked at me with concern.

I forced myself to sit up and what happened just now came to my mind again.

The surging sea water, the suffocating nasal cavity... I actually survived!

After crying while hugging my mother, I wiped my tears and asked. "Where's Christian?"

My mother's face froze, "He's in the next ward."

After hearing this, I forced myself to get up and look for him, but was stopped by my mother.

"You just woke up and your body needs to recover..."

But I caught a flash of evasion in my mother's eyes.

Thinking about Christian's behavior just now, my eyes darkened and I went to the next ward. But as soon as I entered the door, the dazzling picture still hurt my eyes.

I saw Zendaya crying in Christian's arms, Christian rubbed her head and whispered to comfort her. "I'm fine, don't cry..."

Today was the Lantern Festival, Christian and I were preparing to eat in the restaurant. In the past, he would eat here with Zendaya. So after being with me, he would continue this habit.

But when the flood rushed into the restaurant, Christian reacted quickly. He took Zendaya's photo and ran away, as if he was completely forgetting that I had my period.

He was not injured and he didn't even need to be hospitalized. The reason why he was still lying on the bed was nothing more than wanting Zendaya to snuggle in his arms.

Zendaya saw me and hurriedly got up from him, but Christian pressed her to his chest and glanced at me lightly. He asked, "She just comforted me, you won't mind, right?"

I walked to him with my fingers clenched and put the wet divorce agreement in front of him. "Let's get a divorce."

Christian was stunned for a moment, then stood up angrily and Zendaya hurriedly supported him.

He asked in disbelief, "Because I didn't save you, you want to divorce me? You are not dead and you are standing in front of me now? Why are you angry?"

I ignored him, stared at the tattoo on his neck and added.

"By the way, Cathy is dead."

When I left the ward, I heard Zendaya crying from inside.

"What? Cathy is dead, we raised it together before..."

Christian on the side had an ugly face, but just hugged her tightly.

I smiled a little sadly. It was just as I thought.

We had a kitten at home, which he brought back and he said he liked it very much. So, even if I was allergic to cat hair, I silently endured it.

Before, I always told him to close the door before going to bed, but he always left the door a crack, letting the cat scratch me while I was sleeping until I bled. He always looked at my wounds and didn't care.

"It's just a cat, it scratches me, just apply some medicine on yourself."

I didn't know why he was always so tolerant of this cat before. Now I understood everything.

This was a cat, just a proof that Christian silently favored Zendaya. Now, because of the flood, the kitten also lost its life. But compared to me, the disappearance of the kitten made him more painful.

I went home with my mother, took a shower and curled myself up in the quilt in a daze.
