A Resemblance to Sophie Novel Cover

A Resemblance to Sophie

To celebrate the seventh anniversary of our secret marriage, my actor husband James betrayed me. He handed the script I spent three years writing over to my sister, Sophie, while forcing me to shoot a humiliating, dangerous B-movie. Clad only in lace underwear, I was made to perform yoga on the back of a crocodile. But when the sedative failed, the stunt turned into a real-life horror show as three massive reptiles surrounded and began tearing me apart.

Chapter 2

On the wedding day, my fiancé ran away from home with my sister Sophie.

Everyone made fun of me and said I was a tomboy and no one wanted me even if I offered myself to them.

James, as the most promising male actor at that time, resolutely came on stage to propose to me.

We lived happily after marriage.

I helped him build connections and find directors and accompanied him on auditions.

In winter, we huddled in a single bed, shivering with cold, and he put my cold feet into his belly to warm them.

During the most difficult year, he was diagnosed with uremia and his bank card balance was only in the double digits.

I worked five jobs every day, from morning till night, just to raise money for his medical expenses.

After the kidney source matching was successful, I donated a kidney to him without hesitation.

Seven years have finally proven that I love him very much and he loves me too.

But it was not until now that I realized that James married me just because he didn't want me to continue to pester my fiancé and ruin Sophie's wedding.

I thought if I listened to Margaret and gave my fiancé to my sister, she would love me more.

In the end, every bit of the love I had received before had the shadow of my sister.

As long as she comes back, no matter whether it is James or Margaret, everything will no longer belong to me.

In the evening, Sophie suddenly appeared.

She was wearing a miniskirt, revealing her long, white legs, and smiled provocatively.

"You've always been defeated by me. I just pretended to cry and said I wanted a prize, but Yi and Margaret couldn't wait to destroy your legs."

"I am disgusted by the sight of a legless monster like you. I would have no face to live on if it were me."

I was so angry that I grabbed my phone and threw it at him.

I didn't hit her, but she got mad and took out a fruit knife from the drawer and stabbed me.

She scratched her left cheek, blood was flowing down, and there was a stinging pain.

I snatched the knife from her hand and held it high.

The next second, James snatched it back, hugged Sophie lovingly, and asked me what I was doing?

Sophie cried very sadly and said that I called her a vixen and threatened to break her legs and kill her.

I looked at James and shook my head.

"No."

James didn't even look at me and carefully escorted Sophie out.

Margaret heard the noise and glanced at me at the door.

She didn't ask me what happened or if it hurt.

Seeing me constantly pulling out tissues to stop the bleeding, she said in a tone that said I deserved it: "You deserved it. Who made you angry?"

She didn't even step into the door, but turned around and ran after her to comfort her sister.

As far back as I can remember, I knew that Margaret didn't love me.

She gave birth to her older sister with her rich second-generation ex-husband, and married my father after the divorce.

She always scolds my dad for not making money and complains that I eat too much and don't work.

When it was windy and rainy, Margaret would look out the window, worrying about whether her older sister, who was attending Elite Private Academy and living in a Suburban Villa with a nanny, had enough food and clothes to eat. She didn't care at all that I was wearing thin clothes and my stomach was growling with hunger.

What others can get easily, I have to work very hard to get.

But now I don't seem to want it anymore.

After a long time, James came back. He looked at me with a guilty expression.

The whole abdomen was in severe pain, and even painkillers couldn't suppress it.

Thinking of what the doctor said, I suddenly didn’t want to be angry anymore.

I said Sophie tried to hurt me with a knife.

James wasn't surprised at all.

"I know, you don't have legs, so there's no way you can get the knife from the drawer."

I picked up a pillow and threw it at him, screaming and breaking down.

"Then why do you keep saying it's my fault?"

James frowned and kept running his hands through his hair.
