Chapter 2

Three days later, I went home after some therapy at the hospital, and what Quincy had told me the other day was bothering me. I was scared to lose my own identity, and my love for Griffin was still strong, I wanted to give him another chance to explain himself.

When I stepped inside the Emerald mansion, I could hear people chattering. I hid in the hallway to eavesdrop on their conversation in the dining room.

"Did anyone see Sienna?" I heard Griffin ask.

"Brother, you should be relieved she's not around so you can spend more time with Iris," Frizza, my sister-in-law, muttered.

"When are you planning to sever your bond with that naive Omega, Griffin?" My eyes widened at my mother-in-law, Georgina's, words.

Did she mean divorce? I remained where I was, waiting for Griffin's answer.

"Mom, I know what I'm doing. Just let me make my own decisions. You can't dictate my actions," Alpha Griffin grumbled.

"Why are you prolonging your relationship with her and giving her false hope when you already proposed to Iris on Valentine's Day?"

Another revelation struck me, weakening my knees. I leaned against the wall for support.

It was so painful to learn he'd proposed to Beta Iris while I was in the hospital battling cancer.

"I'll find a way, but not now, Mom. I have to end things peacefully. I just feel guilty about leaving her after her father died saving us," Griffin said sadly.

Tears streamed down my face as I remembered my father, who died in the attack saving the Emerald pack. And now they would discard me after everything he'd done?

Quincy was right; I had to take revenge, not just for myself but for my father. They had taken advantage of his death. I had no choice but to accept that my existence meant nothing to them.

My only recourse was to create a new identity to exact my revenge.

"Make it faster, Griffin. Make sure all their wealth is under our pack's name," Georgina sneered.

It's sickening to think they were only with me for my father's wealth, and they thought I was stupid. But I won't let them manipulate me. If they wanted games, I'd play along and make sure I win.

Upstairs, I was surprised to see Iris descending the stairs. She was also startled to see me.

"H-hey, Sienna, you're here?" she stammered, smiling nervously. I stared at her and no longer recognized her as my best friend but as a homewrecker.

"I should be the one asking why you're here, Iris," I said coldly. The guilt was visible in her eyes.

As she descended the stairs, my eyes fell upon the glittering ring adorning her finger – a crescent moon, shimmering with a cold, cruel light. A stark, undeniable symbol of Griffin's betrayal.

He'd been so meticulously prepared to replace me. How utterly, sickeningly cute.

Iris was about to speak when I heard Alpha Griffin's voice. "Sienna?"

I turned and saw Griffin approaching. Unexpectedly, he pulled me into a hug.

"I've been looking for you," he whispered. Those words used to melt my heart, but now it felt nothing.

When he released me, I stared blankly, sensing his nervousness.

"Why do you look so tense? Did something happen?" I asked meticulously, my gaze shifting between him and Iris.

"Oh, Pumpkin. I forgot to tell you Iris came looking for you the other day, and she stayed waiting for you to come back," I was amused by his lies and their pretense of innocence.

I smirked at my mate. "Really? Then why didn't you call me?"

Alpha Griffin attempted a nonchalant facade, but I knew the truth. While I battled for my life, he and Iris had been entwined, their clandestine affair a venomous serpent coiled in the heart of our home.

The image of them, tangled together in forbidden intimacy, burned in my mind.

"I was busy in my study reading some documents and—"

I cut him off. "You don't have to explain, Griffin. I know you're always busy." I turned and went upstairs, but I heard Griffin's heavy footsteps behind me.

"Sienna, can we talk for a moment?" Alpha Griffin asked, taking my arm.

"Sure, about what?" I pretended to be unaware, though I expected he'd bring up the divorce.

In the bedroom, I sat on the edge of the bed, and he stood opposite me, hands in his pockets.

"Umm, I-I just want to apologize for not being there on our wedding anniversary. I feel bad because I know you waited for me," Griffin said, looking down. I saw no sincerity in his eyes; only guilt at being caught.

"Why would you feel sorry? You said there was an emergency, right?" I said sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.

He'd made two mistakes already, and I'd caught him in his lies.

"Y-yeah, there was an emergency," Alpha Griffin's face flushed.

"What kind of emergency?" I pressed.

Griffin scratched his neck. "Umm, I-I went to Iris's birthday party because she needed help—"

Before he could finish, I flashed him a picture of him kissing Iris at the party.

Griffin was taken aback, and I glared at him furiously.

"W-what the hell is that?" He feigned ignorance.

"How could you betray me like this, Griffin?" I spat.
