Chapter 7

At that moment, Margaret stirred weakly. Her vision was hazy, and her body ached with pain. She managed to lift her head slightly, trying to make sense of the situation around her. The presence of the unfamiliar wolves and Luke's distressed voice struck her, bringing her back to the reality of the danger she was in.

Nash was taken aback, seeing the rogue female move. He exchanged a quick glance with Jake, uncertainty and caution in his eyes. Luke, however, was overjoyed to see her wake, leaning down to nuzzle her gently.

"Cade, you're awake! Are you okay? We were so worried," Luke exclaimed, his worry and fear replaced by relief and joy.

Margaret weakly licked Luke's face, managing a small, reassuring wag of her tail. But her strength was failing her, and she couldn't muster the energy to shift or communicate in any other way. She hoped her presence would be enough to comfort Luke.

Nash approached cautiously, torn between his concern for Luke and the inherent danger a rogue represented. He kept a firm grip on his instincts, reminding himself of the situation. His priority was Luke's safety.

"Luke, we need to get her back to the pack, where we can properly care for her and determine what to do," Nash urged, trying to gently steer Luke away from Margaret.

"But she needs help now," Luke protested, unwilling to leave Margaret's side.

"We'll take care of her, Luke. I promise. But we need to ensure your safety too. We'll do what we can for her once we're back in the pack," Nash reassured, trying to soothe Luke's distress.

Reluctantly, Luke backed away, torn between his loyalty to Margaret and his trust in his brother. He knew Nash would do what was right for both of them.

With a heavy heart, Luke watched as Nash and Jake carefully picked up Margaret, preparing to carry her back to the pack. Luke followed closely, still worried about her, hoping that she would recover and understand the sacrifice they were making for her.

As they began their journey back to the pack, a complex mix of emotions swirled within Nash. He felt a sense of responsibility towards the rogue, and he knew that they couldn't simply abandon her. But he also knew that their pack's safety and their duty to protect their own came first. The road ahead would be challenging, as they navigated the delicate balance between compassion and their responsibilities as werewolves.

Jake nodded, understanding the gravity of Nash's words. It was a significant promise to make, to be the guardian of a rogue. But as an Alpha, Nash was known for his integrity and his sense of responsibility. He trusted his Alpha's judgment and knew they would do their best to uphold their promise.

As they worked to provide some makeshift first aid for Margaret, Luke stayed close by, watching with a mix of concern and hope. He wanted to help, to do something, but he knew he had to trust his brother and Jake to handle the situation.

"We need to make a makeshift stretcher to carry her. It'll be easier on her and us," Jake suggested, looking around for materials they could use.

Nash nodded in agreement. "Look for some sturdy branches and vines. We'll need to fashion something quickly."

Luke joined in the effort, looking around for suitable branches and vines. He wanted to do everything he could to help Margaret, and following Nash's instructions was the best way he could contribute at the moment.

After some time, they managed to craft a rough stretcher. It wasn't ideal, but it would serve their purpose of transporting Margaret back to the pack. Carefully, they lifted her onto the stretcher, securing her in place to minimize any further injury.

"Luke, you stay close to her. We'll take turns carrying the stretcher. We need to be cautious, but we also need to move quickly," Nash instructed, his concern for Margaret evident in his eyes.

Luke nodded, keeping a vigilant eye on Margaret as they began their journey back to the pack. He walked beside her, occasionally reaching out to gently touch her fur, reassuring her and himself that she was still with them.

As they traveled, Nash couldn't help but think about the challenges that lay ahead. Being the guardian of a rogue was uncharted territory for their pack. It would require careful consideration and planning, but he was determined to honor his promise to Luke and ensure Margaret's safety.

Their journey back to the pack was filled with both physical and emotional challenges. Nash knew they were about to face a new chapter in their lives, one that would test their bonds and their understanding of compassion and unity. And as the Alpha, he was ready to embrace this responsibility and lead his pack through the uncharted territories that lay ahead.
