How to Play Euchre

Euchre is a classic trick-taking game for four players divided into two fixed teams. The deck contains 24 or 32 cards (optionally including the Joker “Benny”).

Each player receives five cards, and four cards form the kitty. After the top card of the kitty is turned face up, bidding begins. Players can either “pick it up” (accept the trump suit) or “pass.”

When a trump suit is named, the Jack of the same color becomes the second-highest trump. The objective is to win the majority of tricks.

Winning three or four tricks earns one point.

Winning all five is called a “march.”

Losing after declaring trump is called being “euchred.”
