Tides of Annihilation is an upcoming fantasy action-adventure game developed by Chinese studio Eclipse Glow Games, blending Arthurian legend with a shattered, modern-day London consumed by an otherworldly invasion. Players take on the role of Gwendolyn, the sole survivor of this cataclysm, who discovers she possesses the power to summon and command the spectral Knights of the Round Table. Driven by vengeance and a desperate need to save her sister, Gwendolyn embarks on a perilous journey across two worlds: the ruined cityscape of London and the mythical realm of Avalon.
Inspired by classic action games, Tides of Annihilation promises a unique blend of fast-paced combat, exploration, and a narrative steeped in Arthurian lore. The game's core mechanics revolve around the Spectral Knight Dual-Fighting System, allowing players to customize devastating combos by strategically summoning two spectral knights at a time, each with distinct combat roles. Whether charging into battle, defending against attacks, or unleashing special abilities, players must carefully choose which knights to summon based on their preferred gameplay style and the challenges they face. With over ten spectral knights to wield, players can create a personalized fighting style to confront the hordes of enemies and over 30 unique bosses inspired by the Knights of the Round Table.
The game world reimagines London as a sprawling battleground where modern ruins coexist with echoes of a medieval past. Players will traverse two distinct versions of this in-between world: a modern London scarred by the supernatural invasion and a medieval fantasy realm steeped in Arthurian influences. Iconic landmarks are warped and transformed, offering a haunting glimpse of what once was, while the influence of Avalon brings ancient magic and mythical creatures to the forefront. As Gwendolyn explores these interconnected realms, she will uncover clues, search for the legendary Grail Shards, and unravel the mystery behind the invasion.
One of the most awe-inspiring features of Tides of Annihilation are the colossal knights roaming Greater London. These aren't just spectacular visual backdrops; they are interactive challenges woven into the gameplay. Players will climb their immense forms, explore their surfaces, and engage in epic battles that will test their skills and courage. These encounters are especially momentous in the Enhanced Mode, which is being developed exclusively for PS5 Pro players. With the Pro’s additional GPU power and PSSR technology, the game achieves higher resolution, ray tracing, improved image fidelity, and smoother 60fps gameplay.
As Gwendolyn, players will embark on a journey of revenge, reunion, and redemption in an Outworld shrouded by the mysterious Gray Fog. They will discover the truth behind her origin and her power to determine the fate of two worlds. The game’s narrative, inspired by Arthurian legend, explores themes of courage, loyalty, and heroism, intertwining them with an epic story set in a strange yet familiar setting.
Tides of Annihilation is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While there is currently no firm release date, the game promises to push the action-adventure genre forward with its innovative combat system, immersive world, and captivating story.
